1. Open the Microsoft Outlook 2007 program.
2.Click "Tools," and select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
3. Select "Preferences," and "Email Options."
4.Select "Advanced Email Options," and select "When new items arrive in my inbox." Place a check beside "Display a new mail desktop alert."
5. Choose a sound notification, a small change to the cursor or an envelope icon by placing check marks beside these options.
6.Change the duration of the alert by moving the slider bar to the left or right.
7.Click "OK" to exit the window.
